I have posted a new sermon outline on my "Sermons, Lessons and Other Stuff" blog. This sermon will also appear in the recent issue of our periodical 'The Trumpet'. Read it carefully, including the scriptures, as it explains many things. It's a compilation of messages I preached in Graham, WA, over 4 or 5 services. God bless you, enjoy!

I really do not care if you post this. FYI,there is NO such thing as a Former Marines or a Ex Marine. It is ONLY once a Marine always a Marine. And I know this because I am a Marine. You really did not do your research Mike on this topic. You should have asked Rev. Mederano. He could have told you this. This is BASIC knowledge about the Marines!
Oh and another FYI those that say Semper FI is done by actual Marines to fellow Marines!

Hey,
Thanks for the info, if it's correct. I didn't do ANY research actually, it wasn't necessary, and as the sermon outline says, it was a quote from a brother, who is a Marine by the way. Those words belong to the Latin language, not the Marines. If you don't live the training, and you aren't faithful to your team, you are not a Marine at all, and never were, you're just someone who took a course. A real Marine would never call those who betray them brothers.
The same is true in ministry; lots of people went through Bible College, but didn't have what really mattered most; true Christian character and loyalty to the body of CHrist. Those who turned on the brethren they once loved, aren't real Christians...I John
Just for the record Sir I am a Marine and I enjoyed the message. It spoke to my heart as to what we are expected to be as Christian brothers and sisters. And God dealt with my heart that service. As I am sure he is going to do tonight.
God bless

Pastor-great comparison. Loyalty is a MUST in the Marines, not only to our leaders but to our fellow troops. We never disrespected those who were in our chain of command, especially in front of subordinates (even if we disagreed). We never called a General/Sgt.Maj. by first name, just as we don't call our parents by first name but 'Dad' 'Mom' 'Sir' 'Ma'am.' It is out of respect.
There ARE 'Ex-Marines'...ex:'Lee Harvey Oswald' one who assassinated our Commander In Chief. He is considered an 'EX' Marine by us, Marines. So it is with those who have gone 'UA' Unauthorized Absence (AWOL), especially during a time of war. Those who have been dishonorably discharged are NO longer Marines to us, they have NOT kept the code of honor, courage, committment- esprit de corps OR Semper Fi, instead it was 'Semper 'I'...Marines are a brotherhood, but the body of Christ is a MUCH stronger brotherhood- in which I say to them, 'Semper Fi.'
